Short delivery of petrol – on account of leakages and irregularities in services,
FDR/Loksatta initiated random inspections of petrol stations with measuring cans for
verification. Covering over 1500 stations, the measurement activity revealed 5-10%
irregularities in petrol delivery, alerting oil companies and State governments. The effort
led to saving of Rs. 1 Crore per day, and the installation of electronic devices at stations
to test quality.
