Foundation for Democratic Reforms (FDR) is one of India's leading think-tanks and research-resource centers for formulating and promoting fundamental reforms in political, electoral and governance spheres and in critical areas of state policy. It was established in 1996 and is based in Hyderabad, India. The goals of FDR are furthered by the activities of LOK SATTA (People Power), which was established in 1997 and quickly grew into India's largest citizens' movement. The ultimate aim of FDR is to enable every Indian citizen to fully realize and enjoy:

FDR's activities primarily are:
  1. Study of the democratic and constitutional institutions in India for formulating and promoting political and governance reforms (including electoral, administrative, judicial reforms and likewise)
  2. Study, formulation and promotion of state/public policy alternatives in critical areas, compatible with the FDR's reform goals
  3. Partnering with like-minded civil society organizations, institutions and public-spirited individuals committed towards realizing the first two objectives (above); building capacity and promoting and capacity building of individuals, institutions, organizations.
